Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft)
Welcome to the cultural heart of Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a friendly representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Take some time to settle in and refresh after your journey. In the evening, you’ll join a trip briefing where we’ll introduce you to your guide, discuss the trek itinerary, and answer any last-minute questions. Later, enjoy a delicious welcome dinner featuring authentic Nepali cuisine.
Drive to Chame (2,610m/8,890ft) - 10-12 hours
The adventure begins with an early morning drive from Kathmandu to Chame, the district headquarters of Manang. The scenic journey takes you through terraced hillsides, lush forests, and charming villages. As the altitude gradually increases, the landscape transitions into a rugged mountain terrain, hinting at the adventures ahead. Chame welcomes you with its peaceful ambiance, mountain views, and a chance to rest before your trek.
Trek to Upper Pisang (3,300m/10,824ft) - 6 hours
Your first day of trekking begins with a trail winding through dense pine forests and alongside the Marsyangdi River. As you ascend, the trail reveals breathtaking views of the Annapurna ranges and Mt. Manaslu. En route, you’ll pass through the charming village of Telekhu and cross suspension bridges over glacial rivers. Upper Pisang greets you with stunning Himalayan vistas and the iconic prayer flags fluttering in the breeze.
Trek to Manang (3,540m/11,612ft) via Ngawal - 7-8 hours
Today’s trek takes you through the scenic upper Manang valley, where the trail climbs gradually to the ancient village of Ngawal. This route offers incredible views of Annapurna II, III, IV, and Gangapurna. Along the way, you’ll visit Braga Monastery, a 500-year-old gompa adorned with Buddhist art and relics. Your day ends in Manang, a picturesque village nestled beneath towering peaks.
Acclimatization in Manang
To prepare for the high altitudes ahead, you’ll spend the day acclimatizing in Manang. Options for the day include a hike to Ice Lake, offering surreal views of the Annapurna range, or a visit to Gangapurna Lake for a tranquil experience. You can also explore local monasteries or learn about high-altitude lifestyles at the Himalayan Rescue Association.
Trek to Yak Kharka (4,060m/13,316ft) - 4-5 hours
Today’s trail leads you through meadows dotted with grazing yaks and horses. The path gradually ascends as you leave the treeline and move into the alpine zone. Along the way, you’ll pass through small settlements, ancient mani walls, and stone-built houses that reflect the highland culture. The serene beauty of Yak Kharka makes it an ideal resting spot for the night.
Trek to Thorong Phedi (4,525m/14,842ft) - 4-5 hours
The trek continues alongside the east bank of the Jarang Khola. As you ascend, the valley narrows, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and rocky terrain. Thorong Phedi, a small settlement at the base of Thorong La Pass, offers striking views of the surrounding peaks. Keep an eye out for blue sheep, Himalayan griffons, and other wildlife during the day.
Cross Thorong La Pass (5,416m/17,769ft) and Trek to Muktinath (3,800m/12,464ft) - 9 hours
The highlight of the trek! Start early to tackle the challenging Thorong La Pass, the highest point of the trek. The ascent is steep, and strong winds are common, but the panoramic views of the Annapurna, Gangapurna, and Dhaulagiri ranges are worth every step. Descend to the sacred town of Muktinath, home to a revered temple and eternal flames. After a hearty lunch, take a short drive to Jomsom for the night.
Fly to Pokhara (800m/2,625ft) - 25 minutes
Enjoy a thrilling morning flight over the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge, to reach Pokhara. The rest of the day is free to explore this serene lakeside city. Visit Phewa Lake, enjoy local cafes, or relax with views of the Annapurna range reflected in the water.
Drive to Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) - 7 hours
Take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, passing verdant hills, winding rivers, and traditional villages. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to shop for souvenirs or explore the city’s vibrant streets. In the evening, join us for a farewell dinner to celebrate the completion of your adventure
Final Departure
It’s time to say goodbye to Nepal. Our representative will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey. Depart with memories of an incredible trek and the warmth of Nepali hospitality.
